Dean Abbott is Co-Founder and Chief Data Scientist of SmarterHQ, and President of Abbott Analytics, Inc. in San Diego, California. Mr. Abbott is an internationally recognized data mining and predictive analytics expert with over two decades of experience applying advanced data mining algorithms, data preparation techniques, and data visualization methods to real-world problems, including fraud detection, risk modeling, text mining, personality assessment, response modeling, survey analysis, planned giving, and predictive toxicology.
Mr. Abbott is the author of Applied Predictive Analytics (Wiley, 2014) and co-author of IBM SPSS Modeler Cookbook (Packt Publishing, 2013). He is a highly-regarded and popular speaker at Predictive Analytics and Data Mining conferences and meetups, and is on the Advisory Boards for the UC/Irvine Predictive Analytics Certificate as well as the UCSD Data Mining Certificate programs.
He has a B.S. in Mathematics of Computation from Rensselaer (1985) and a Master of Applied Mathematics from the University of Virginia (1987).

Christoph Best is a Computational/Data Scientist in the Quantitative Marketing team of Google, where he does research on using large-scale data analysis and machine learning methods to understand user behavior trends, focusing in particular on Search and Video. Christoph has been working with huge data sets since the early 1990s, first as a Theoretical Physicist working on Supercomputing applications, and then later as a Bioinformatician working on image databases in structural biology. He joined Google in 2010 from European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, England, where he led the Electron Microscopy Data Bank project.

Alexander loves solving complex problems with new technologies and he is a true believer that the current development in the field of machine learning has the biggest chance to change the world.
A native Bulgarian, Alexander moved to Munich in 2006 to study finance and statistics at the LMU Munich and joined Experteer as a working student in 2007. During these 10 years at the company and having served in various tech and operational roles, he took over the challenge to bring machine learning to improve the whole value chain. In less than 18 months the Data Science and Engineering department automated key text classification processes resulting in a cost reduction of more than 60% and a performance increase in more than 300%. As a result, Experteer Data Services came to life.
Data Services Mission is to introduce smart process automation to the HR Technology industry with innovative and scalable web services and cutting-edge machine learning algorithms. Dominik Claßen has spent the last 12 years on the vendor side of the analytics software business. Working at T-Systems, IBM/Cognos, MicroStrategy and currently Pentaho, he has a wide experience in that sector. In his current role he is leading and growing a team of specialists for data science and custom analytics interfaces across the EMEA&APAC region. Part of this role is also to explore wider applications for Pentaho and machine learning as part of the overall IoT strategy of Hitachi.

Sven F. Crone is an Assistant Professor in Management Science at Lancaster University, UK, where his research on forecasting with artificial intelligence has resulted in 40+ peer reviewed articles (including EJOR, JORS, IJF) and received international awards. As the Deputy Director of the Lancaster Centre for Forecasting, with 15 members of staff & PhD students one of the largest units dedicated to business forecasting, Crone has more than 10 years of consultancy experience in corporate projects, including supply chain forecasting (e.g. Beiersdorf, Sanofi-Aventis, Bayer, Celanese, Hapag-Lloyd), retail forecasting (e.g. Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Wilkinsons), and utilities demand and price forecasting (e.g. DONG, Codelco). Crone regularly provides corporate training courses for the Forecasting Centre, IBF and IEEE worldwide as well as custom-made in-house courses. He has been a regular speaker at 50+ academic and practitioner conferences, including different keynote lectures.

Joachim Gaschler ist Senior Manager Risk bei Concardis und dort für die Datenarchitektur im Risk zuständig. Er war Gründer und Geschäftsführer einer Firma, die ein datengetriebenes ERP-Tool für Mittelständlöer entwickelte. Er beschäftigte sich mit stochastisch dynamischer Optimierung ökonometrischer Modelle. Bei einer großen Versicherung entwarf er das Datenmodell für ein DWH und begleitete die Umsetzung. Bei Billpay war er Leiter Risk, Leiter Forderungsmanagement, Leiter BI, Leiter Fraud Prevention – und Datenschutzbeauftragter. Bei RatePAY war er Leiter Risk und Leirter Fraud Prevention. Bei beiden Stationen setzte er massiv auf die Nutzung von Daten. Business Intelligence ist für ihn keine IT-Aufgabe, sondern Kernaufgabe der Fachabteilungen, in denen das Business Know How ist (oder sein sollte) – und das Daten Know How hin muß.

Aviv Gruber is a cloud networking data scientist at Huawei Tel Aviv research center. He is a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a Ph.D. in machine learning and data mining from the IEM department of Tel-Aviv University. Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics and Augmented Reality are no longer abstract terms, but are more and more implemented successfully into the company’s business.

Dr. David Stephenson is an independent consultant in the field of data science and big data analytics and author of the forthcoming Pearson publication, “Big Data Demystified: How to make better business decisions”. He has led global analytics programs for companies such as eBay, Axel Springer and Coolblue (a skyrocketing ecommerce player in the Netherlands) and has worked extensively in insurance, capital markets, and financial risk management. He has also served as an expert advisor to top-tier investment, private equity and management consulting firms.
David completed his Ph.D. at Cornell University and was subsequently Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching applied analytics to graduate students in the engineering and Wharton business schools.
